Week Seven: Fantasy For Young Teens

Harry Potter: Epilogue -Nineteen Years Later

For this week we were assigned to read a book for young teens. The main selection we were asked to look at was Harry Potter’s Epilogue. For those of you who have not read the Harry Potter series or seen the movies, the bass line of the story is about a boy named Harry Potter. He goes through many different obstacles with the help from his friends. In the end he defeats his arch nemesis Lord Voldemort.

The epilogue, which is at the end of the book, you get to see as a reader what happens with Harry, Ron and Hermione nineteen years after Harry killed Lord Voldemort. I personally like the epilogue because how the author J. K Rolling ended the main story left you questioning what happened next to your favorite characters and the epilogue answered some of those questions. For an example Harry and Ginny get married and have kids and so do Ron and Hermione. All the children end up going to Hogwarts like their parents. The epilogue also shows how time has changed and the reader gets to
see a little snippet of the first generation that does not have to deal with Lord Voldemort.

I feel that the mood of the epilogue really sums up and ends the story in a great way. One reason is because you get to see all the main characters having kids and their children being able to go to Hogwarts. Also you get to see that the children do not have to deal with all of the problems and obstacles that their parents had to deal with. Lastly the reader gets to see that all of the problems and obstacles that Harry, Ron and Hermione had to deal with and defeating Lord Voldemort helped made their future better and brighter.
